One of the risks of doing business in the South is that you may be measured according to your faith. The oft repeated first question between acquaintances here is "So, what church do you go to?"
Not perfect grammar, but the point is the same: Your church identity is critically important to whatever our relationship will be. If you answer, "I don't go to any church," you'll be the future target of proselytizing. If you answer with "It's none of your business," you'll have set yourself up for alienation.
