Tucson is definitely Sanders country, fueled by massive support from students at the University of Arizona in Tucson.
More than 500 students voted in a mock presidential-primary election on ASU's Tempe campus Tuesday afternoon, and hundreds more registered to vote in the event marking National Voter Registration Day.
Near the mock election was a tricked-out trailer where passers-by could step into a photo booth and record 15-second videos of themselves asking questions they want presidential hopefuls to answer.
Bernie won a whopping 63% of the vote in the mock election, because of Bernie's stance on a number of issues:
Students are “feeling the Bern
Cooper was one of multiple students participating in the event who spoke about their support for Sanders, who won with 63 percent of the votes.
“I think the difference between him and any of the other candidates, not just (in his party) but in general, is he’s open,” Cooper said. “(He) really wants to represent the people.”
Another supporter was Matt Davis, a 22-year-old sophomore who said the biggest issues he’s paying attention to are education and student-loan debt, which he has.
“People don’t know, but it’s a hard burden, especially when ... you’re the one that makes it to college, and you’re carrying your family on your back,” Davis said. “If you fall in debt, then they’re gonna fall in debt, and it’s a cycle. We wanna climb out of the hole of debt and move forward.”

Tucson, Arizona is a crucial area of Arizona for Bernie Sanders. The Arizona primary is set to take place on March 22, 2016. Arizona will distribute 41 district delegates proportionally to presidential contenders based on the primary results in each of Arizona's 9 Congressional Districts. And Tucson has a whopping 7 delegates to allocate on primary day so we need a huge win at the polls on primary day for Bernie to secure a majority of the 7 delegates.
Congressional district caucuses will meet across the state of Arizona on Saturday, April 16, 2016 where National Convention District delegates are elected according to the results of the primary.
In addition, 22 delegates are to be allocated to presidential contenders based on the primary vote statewide so we need a huge vote total out of Tucson in order for Bernie to grab a majority of the 22 delegates allocated based on each candidates vote total statewide.
The Arizona Democratic State Convention and State Committee Meeting will be held on Saturday 14 May 2016. At the convention, National Convention Pledged PLEO and At-Large delegates will be elected, based on the statewide results of the primary.
