Though the word “interviews” could be interchanged with “fellates.”
Another puff piece filled with lies and half truths to make a conservative look good.
DeJoy said the Post Office was losing $10 billion a year. Yes, due to the pension mandate the Republicans had loaded it down with in hopes the Post Office would fail and then it could be privatized.
DeJoy says he was trying to get the Post Office competitive with UPS and FedEx.
The Post didn’t bother to question DeJoy about the $30 to $70 million his wife has invested in UPS and XPO Logistics, which would increase in value if the US Post Office lost business to them due to terrible service cause by DeJoy’s actions.
And the Post didn’t ask if the $440,000 he donated to the Trump Victory Fund was a bribe for him to land the Post Office job, or a bribe for DeJoy’s wife to get the Ambassador to Canada gig.
And his answer on the electric vehicle purchase is blunt:
Post: The Postal Service's cash balance right now is somewhere between $20 billion and $24 billion. There will be people who will say you have enough money to buy electric vehicles already. Why are they mistaken?
DeJoy: Number one, whether I run out of cash tomorrow or I run out of cash three years from now -
Post: You've said this before. It's a matter of if you pay your bills.
DeJoy: Yes. Number two, I have a lot of other needs. I got 500 plants I need to address. I have 30-year-old IT. I have to spend a couple billion dollars to get my IT relevant. I have to spend a few billion dollars, at least, to get my plants relevant. Look, I made a decision on this batch. When it's ready for the next batch, I will evaluate….

Apparently the Washington Post can’t do math. 20,000 vehicles at $50,000 is $1 billion, less than 5% of the cash on hand. The Post Office itself said it could electrify 75,000 for $2.3 billion. Which would go a long way towards reducing carbon emissions. But let’s not look at that. DeJoy says look over here.
“But, but, but, the post office might need that money for something else in 10 or 20 years. Besides, I’ve made my decision and Joe Biden’s environmental initiative can eat shit.”
This guy can not be gone soon enough.

A yahoo fact check on the claim that DeJoy has $30 to $70 million invested in Post Office competitors. Their conclusion is that it lacks context because it is his wife’s money, not his personally. So no conflict of interest.
