Donald Trump has demonstrated that he thinks forcing American Muslims to register and carry special ID is a bully of an idea. He's done so twice.
Just to be clear, here's what he said to the idea of a database for tracking Muslims in America:
"I would certainly implement that. Absolutely."
"There should be a lot of systems, beyond databases," he added. "We should have a lot of systems."
When asked whether Muslims would be legally obligated to sign into the database, Trump responded, "They have to be—they have to be."
Not just databases. More than databases. Okay. And remember when he was asked—four times—how this was any different from Nazi Germany, he didn't have an answer. But just so you know, Trump isn't the one who's a monster for suggesting that.
See, not his idea at all! It's a reporter's idea. He just thinks it's a really great one.
