Yesterday, the Kerry campaign press released a comment criticizing General Clark for voting with Nixon and Reagan. Perhaps Mr. Kerry does not want support from ex-Republicans and Independents, who may constitute a quarter to a third of the voters, in the general election.
Wes Clark has not voted for a Republican in 15 years and should not be considered illegitimate because he has not been a lifelong Democrat. Essentially, Mr. Kerry is anti-big tent. This coupled w/ his acknowledgement that he doesn't need the south to win against Bush makes him a questionable candidate.
