People are trying to take what he said and turn it in a way that it plays the way they'd like to see it play.
Was someone defending John Kerry on the botched joke?
Nope
Was someone defending the excerpts Jim Webb's novel?
Nope
It was FREAKING Rumsfeld regarding a statement by Gen. Casey on Iraq troop levels.
This from the Jedi Master Sith Lord of spin and obfuscation!
The story is
here. Basically, General Casey responded to a question about the current situation in Iraq and if more troops are needed to deal with the recent uptick in violence:
Do we need more troops to do that? Maybe, snip and as I've said all along, if we do, I'll ask for the troops I need from both the coalition and the Iraqis.
It's not the troop level story I'm concerned about, though. I'll leave it to someone else to open the discussion on how the number of troops in Iraq has quietly increased, and whether we buy the official explanation that it's all part of the rotation process.
What really burns me here is the continued hipocrisy. I am sick and tired of this administration getting to have it both ways. They want their cake. They want to eat it. Then, they want to regurgitate it and eat it again!
As evidenced by the explosion of the John Kerry botched joke flap the right are the masters at what Rumsfeld is complaining about. I can't believe what I'm reading out there today. I can't believe Kerry actually apologized. I can't beleive that Olbermann and Matthews are the only ones in the MSM who saw through this B.S.
Time and time again when faced with losing the argument on the facts the right resorts to any and all spin, removal of context, or out right deception to sway the media and the public who happily accept it all. Granted, the facts will never sway the koolaid drinkers out there, but the last six years have utterly shattered my faith in our common intelligence as a nation. The lowest common denominator out there is dropping fast.
We HAVE to win this election!
