What a day! DKos has been hot, hot, hot. Gimme some major mojo for having the courage to spend the day mining for comments, heh? It's been a day-long barn-burner.
Reclist-quality diaries came so fast and furious all day that a lot of great stuff went down the recent list-hole too, too fast. Hunter's latest offering tops anything I'd already read under his UID and the craziest GBCKos diary EVER turned into a mojo fest of soon-legendary proportions ('we're going to mojo you blind, beatch, so you can NEVER leave!') and spawned a round of crazy mimicry. Up to four now, I see. Loved this by cowgirl:
I nominate every single comment in this thread for tonight's top comments diary. These are the bestest comments & pictures I've seen in at least a week. I wonder if this diary will beat the now famous INAPPROPRIATE CAPS: Misleading title 4 exclamation points diary. :Munching popcorn
And what a day it's been in the 'real world' of Congress and the mainstream media!
In Senate hearings, Hillary Clinton kicked Rumsfeld's butt (why should we believe you now?), provoking this Top Comment gem-of-cluelessness: 'My goodness.'
CNN's Strategy Room had several segments about the Blogosphere, most relating to the Lamont/Lieberman slug-fest in CT, and Jack Cafferty posed a Lieberman query to his audience and got some good one-liners in reply.
What does it mean when the voters turn against a man of the caliber of Senator Joe Lieberman?
It means that in at least some parts of this country, representative democracy still exists.

Let's hear it for Connecticut AND Michigan.
NBC's Nightly News started out as All-Bad-All-Bush but then they reported a silver lining in the heat wave - apparently air-conditioned shopping malls across the nation are reporting huge sales as folks take to the enclosed malls to escape the heat. Apparently it's never too hot to shop.
Then they did a story on Parkland Hospital in Dallas which makes me think they're getting at least some of their 'leads' from DKos. By the time they reported that Ford is recalling over a million SUVs and large trucks and showed still-photos of Kimberly Dosier leaving her rehab hospital with a smile and a walking cane, I'd gotten into a forgiving mood. 'Bout time they bought a clue.
Then I saw this and got into a great mood right away: last night's Top Comments: Donut Edition by jlove1982 hit # 19 on jotter's list of high-impact diaries. Kudos to jlove and all the folks who dropped by for conversation and mucho mojo.
THIS JUST IN FROM CARNACKI:
We have a new e-mail account for the Top Comment Crew: send links to your recommendations to TopComments AT gmail.com
Here's a few I picked up today:
On 'Give me a break, Have some animal stories', this one by Gabriele Droz: Ravens
On 'Eight Israeli Civilians Killed Today in Rocket Strikes,' Nightprowlkitty wrote: Agree
Teacherken's fine '500' diary elicited many, many good ones but this one by cskendrick stood out: Oh, I might joke and demur about why....
In the noteworthy diary about the Kansas motel-keepers and a rainbow flag, Judy Garland and gay iconography in general are the topic of an enlightening thread that pops off right away with: Why a rainbow.
While Hunter's very fine diary today is a must-read (some of the most brilliant rhetoric I've seen here and that's saying a LOT), shpilk sums it up thus: so.... But, quite rightly, noweasels points to a down-thread comment comment by Hunter himself. There were many, many more: I need a cigarette by goldberry, victoria2dc's'The White House is not holding back, and rafaelh's The biggest irony of the right wing. Many more - add your own selections in the comment section below.
On 'GOP Operative Wants You Dead,' ultrageek says: I think it's awfully convenient; and predator saint writes: We must look to the future.
On 'Bush walks Right into Castro's Trap,' Armando speaks sharply (and everyone stops to listen): All you need to know.
Meteor Blades on division of household labor: It's one of the oldest male/female ... and on the politics of religion: Yup, this...
gloriana has been busy but wanted to nominate this one for best photo-snark of the day: Because DMFAK is crashing my browser now...
More from noweasels:
From Javelina, a lovely quotation from Abraham Lincoln on the Mexican-American war, written in response to this interesting comparison from Ortcutt.
And from the far too many hilarious comments to the rambling insanity of the hopefully soon silent ErrinF, there's all these from: Wiscmass, Miss Devore, Buffalo Girl (who offered sage advice which was, how shall I put it, not kindly taken), and from IrishKorean quoting Tom Friedman on the non-deleted diary crisis.
And [finally] from Gooserock, a comment about a stunning moment in television journalism that most of us apparently missed (posted in RenaRF's heartbreaking rendition of Jeanne Meserve's sensitive and agonizing report from New Orleans on the night the levees broke - another must read diary).
From new TC-recruit, Muffled Drum:
Lest we forget: Here's Dartagnan's excellent reminderof the true hierarchy of American politics.
Spit graced us with an Anatomy Lesson/
Question to old wobbly: How do I get sponsored to the IUPF? Is that a local?
And I just can't help myself. I have to recommend Carnacki's comment explaining to the newbies how mojo really works. (Note from va dare: this one was hidden - here's the text for those who can't see it: "Collect enough mojo and you can fill in your coupon books to exchange for great items. I'm close to having enough for the toaster oven."
lowkell's diary "Hot Enough Yet? - Not for Allen, Inhofe, Blunt" was a thoughtful dairy explaining why a vote for Jim Webb is the environmentally responsible thing to do. daulton's last comment made me think out loud, "Oh, if only....."
Carnacki sent in these:
Land of Enchantment won me over with these two: Check out this 1948 cartoon and And what's even weirder...
Another new TC-recruit iliketodrum sent these:
This first one is a keeper from RandyMI This was in a thread on FP post by Kos Green approached GOP for donations Green Party
I liked this one from a diary by Grand Moff Texan GOP Operatives want you dead. The photo which was used in the diary of a mega church was shrunk very small by adios. I thought it was funny: Maybe if we all concentrate real hard...
I'm going to post the Top Comments by the numbers in a comment below - don't freak - I've just been interrupted by the telephone so many times that I haven't finished editing it yet and I can do that while you guys check out these highly recommended ones.
Always the mountains,
