Of course we have all heard by now that George has directed all W.H. staff to attend refresher courses in ethics. Well, not all. Apparently, George and Dick don't need to attend so I wonder who is actually going.
Keith Olbermann had a great point last night: if you are not going to tell us what these classes consist of or who is attending or let us in, then we are going to make it up. To literally shame them into practicing open government.
the point on the flip
. . .
I was listening to Fox this morning, and John Gibson asked will the ethics class satisfy the Democrats.
At first glance, this is another snarky comment from that fool. Would any of us accept that going to ethics classes (or not going as the case may be) will atone for the lies, the deception, the incompetency, and crimes?
Then I think that Gibson's remark is incredible: Either Fox News realizes that the Democrats are finally a force to be reckoned with or they are once more going into the breech with the same lie that the Democrats are out of control.
I tend to think the former this time. I don't think the Administration is functional anymore. Did you all see McClellan yesterday? Then, Bush and Cheney are reportedly squabbling (yeah, right).
So what do the Repubs in Congress do-they decide to launch another leak investigation when the first one hasn't been finished (sound familiar). Of course, this story about secret prisions should have been leaked anyway. This is not something that SHOULD be classified.
But the Repubs just don't get it at all. Scotty attacked that reporter when she said that Cheney supports torture but the white house doesn't. He leaped off the podium to deny that the V.P. condones torture, but then won't explain what Cheney is trying to do or if he was answering the question then he was apparently calling some of them unAmerican-if you listen to what Howard Fineman said-the subtext was that those of you who question Dick Cheney are unAmerican.
They seem to be cooked. But, then we have an impending crisis. Who should take over?
Certainly not Frist or Hastert or Condi. None of them should be permitted in Government. First order of business is, of course, to shelve the Alito nomination. We should restore order and legitimacy and openness. (No secret prisons).
By the way, I think the whole story about W.H. staffers going to school is ridiculous. Once again, morons, it is not the low level flunkie that broke the law. It was you the higher up who ordered it.
Anyway, nice to know that the Dems are finally speaking out with one voice and Fox fears them.
