I've been reading a lot of the posts on talkleft.com and it's becoming progressively more hostile to Obama and his supporters. And I say this as someone who began the primaries as a Clinton supporter. They've been going on and on about the Samantha Power incident, and NAFTAGate, etc. All par for the course, I guess.
But take a look at this post, and the comments. It begins as a post aboout superdelegates and which criteria they should use, but soon, someone starts posting about "rioting" and "race-based" complaints, and "affirmative action". Is this really what Jeralyn Merritt wants as an example of her support for Clinton? Doesn't this sound like something you'd read on Michelle Malkin's site?
Some examples.
The Obama campaign has set the stage for a race-based claim to the nomination regardless of popular vote. The surrogates have tipped their hand early, and certain bloggers are already talking of "riots" (their term). It could get unbelievably ugly.
I agree, the African American groups in the democratic party are given far too much power and attention.
that the AAs would bolt the party because "it's their turn" to have the nominee. Excuse me, but I thought a person was supposed to vote for the most qualified person regardless of race, gender, religion, or sexual preference.
If they want to bolt the party I say don't let the door hit you on the way out. But also, where will you go? Will you become a Republican? Or will you form a third party? Or will you just take your marbles and go home and not play anymore?
The AA's are not the only constituency in the Democratic party; in fact, they are one of the smaller ones. So all this talk about their clout, their power, their rights to have an AA as the candidate is beyond pathetic. ,
I would agree with you (5.00 / 1) (#27)

except that Donna Brazile and Al Sharpton are firing people up and making just such claims. It is manufactured to be sure. But sometimes people's words create manufactured problems.
Sounds clearly like Affirmative Action (none / 0) (#34)

as part of the Dem nominating process.
Note the use of boogeymen like Al Sharpton, and "riots", and the general hostility towards "AA's" (African Americans). I thought Democrats were the party of color blindness and tolerance? Certainly, there is no place in polite society for such racist talk. Yet it's becoming more and more acceptable for people who dislike Obama for being...what? Too black? Too hope-ish? Too un-Clinton?
What do you all think of this? What's going on here?
