Really, really shocked by the number of former Daschle people in Obama's inner circle. Why are they using such losers?
I can't believe this: Steve Hildebrand is the deputy national campaign director. Do you know what his great claim to fame is? He headed Daschle's losing 2004 re-election campaign. Daschle won reelection by wide margins in 92 and 98, but this Hildebrand lost him his senate seat in 2004. Then's there's Peter Rouse who was Daschle's chief of staff when he was minority leader. Daschel was weak weak weak as minority leader. He was too much of gentlemen and wanted to play nice when the White House wouldn't. Thirdly, Julianna Smoot raised money for Daschle's 2004 defeat and works on the campaign. Why have all these Daschle people infested the campaign? And to top things off Heather Higginbottom is lead policy person. She's not a Daschle person, better, she was deputy national-policy director for Kerry-Edwards, and we all know how well that turned out.
I looked at these guys resumes and I get a sinking feelig in my gut. I don't want to panic, but their track record does nothing to inspire confidence. Even Maureen Dowd sees it. "His impassioned egghead advisers have made his campaign seem not only out of his control, but effete and vaguely foreign-the same unflattering light that doomed Michael Dukasis and John Kerry." I feel like things are hanging by a thread and these guys are dead weight.
