As I wrote earlier today, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is holding up the deployment of thousands of National Guard troops even though President Obama has already authorized them to fight the oil spill.
It's an embarrassing situation for Jindal, because for the last two months he's blasted the Obama administration for not providing him with enough resources to fight the spill. Now it turns out that while Jindal was busy getting headlines and trashing the federal government, he was failing to actually use the resources that he'd already been given.
Still, Jindal did activate a handful of troops. What did he do with them? Well, as you can see in this video from June 10, one of their duties was to support Louisana's Department of Wildlife and Fisheries in blocking media access to BP contractor handling oiled birds.
Jindal's been leading a charmed political life since the oil spill took place, but with stories like this beginning to emerge, he'd better not get used to it, because narratives do change. Ultimately, the facts matter.
