I like to draw a card for meditation and reflection daily, and went back to my Robin Wood deck today. I've been doing a bit of "grail quest" work with my Arthurian deck lately, but my RW deck has been my go-to deck for over ten years, so it's fitting my first diary in this new community start with Robin's imagery.

Today's draw was Temperance, Major Arcana number 14. Robin really put a lot of detail work into this deck, giving the Seeker a lot to study and reflect upon. For example, the winged figure has one foot in the water, the other on land, easily balancing between the two. He juggles three balls, one gold, one silver and the third crystal, keeping things in balance there.
Everything in moderation, including moderation!
Appropriate morning for Temperance to show up. I just got off the phone with a call for work. I've been asked to do a bunch more training classes in Europe, and I had to pass on a couple of them. The Europe trips are a lot of fun, but they keep me away from home a lot. Now, I try to limit the trips to no more than three weeks away at a time.
Moderation!
Having worked so long with Robin's deck, I feel very comfortable doing readings with it. I bought the companion book for the deck as soon as it came out in 1998. I like that Robin came at Tarot from a Wiccan perspective, but was still very loyal to the "standard" Rider-Waite format/symbolism. There are a few cards where you can sense her dislike/rejection of Christianity, but it's not so intense as to be a truly negative influence.
Before the storm, I was a serious Tarot-ho. I had over 15 decks! Unfortunately, I designated the bottom drawer of my old desk as my "tarot drawer," and the water got high enough to ruin all of them. Over the last five years, I've replaced a few. I immediately got a new RW deck. I then picked up Ellen Cannon Reed's "Witches Tarot," and most recently the Arthurian deck, and the Golden Dawn deck from Lo Scarabeo.
