Now that it looks like the public is getting its first glimpse of the New Apostolic Reformation, we may be hearing a lot more from one of its more prominent leaders, Cindy Jacobs. Since late 2008 or early 2009, she has been chairwoman of the Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders, and thus is one of the top leaders of this fascist brand of Christianity.
On Thursday, Jacobs and her husband Mike put out a video saying that the East Coast earthquake was a sign from God. Unfortunately, I can't embed the whole video from their site, but People for the American Way got an excerpt.
Jacobs and her husband, Mike, claim that the world was designed for "releasing tremendous blessing"--but when we sin, it responds through natural events. Jacobs thinks this is a golden time to tell people about Jesus. Further supporting this, she points to a prophesy she delivered in 2010 claiming that when earthquakes strike, it's a sign that "a wind of Pentecost" is about to be released in those areas.
In other words--this woman thinks that it's perfectly acceptable to preach at people in the face of a natural disaster. No, Cindy. When a disaster strikes, people need food, water and (in some cases) a place to stay, not to be preached at.
By Jacobs' standards, however, this is pretty mild stuff. For instance, she has claimed that a rash of bird deaths in Arkansas was directly caused by the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell and that the Arab Spring is the first step toward the reestablishment of an Islamic empire. She also considers herself a "mother of nations."
And yet, Rick Perry accepted an endorsement from this woman for his "Response" prayer gathering (though there's no word on whether she was actually there).
