In a most perverse and disgusting turn of events, an Ohio lesbian is using that state's gay marriage ban in an attempt to take away her former partner's right to visit the son they brought into the world some years ago.
Who would have imagined that one of our own would have taken us down this treacherous legal path? As this wends its way through the courts, imagine the potential precedent of a homosexual using this profoundly homophobic Ohio state constitutional law to challenge other "rights" afforded to gay Americans.
It's a veritable Pandora's Box and raises a question that we've not sufficiently considered. Are gay marriage bans, especially when they stand as actual amendments to state constitutions, setting the legal framework for the denial of other rights and for the legalization of other discriminatory practices against gay Americans?
While this may seem like a nasty little local story at the moment, you know there are homophobes out there in the jungle who will follow this closely as they plot their next move against us.
It's just too horrible and too painful that the Pandora opening this box is a lesbian.
