What we're getting from the Republican deceptors, and all the time for decades are properly called "Scamdals."
This isn't really a diary, and I'll take this down after a couple of hours. I think of the Confucian saying "When things are not called by their proper name, confusion abounds in the realm."
I'm just interested in the proper name getting exposed and getting picked up and used.
A Scandal would be officials sworn to do their best in running government trying everything they can to sabotage its functioning for political advantage.
A Scandal would be Richard Nixon secretly promising North Vietnam he'd give them a better deal if they walked away from negotiations with LBJ. And then seeing 22,000 more Americans die, tens of thousands more maimed, and a million and more innocents in Vietnam suffering.
A Scandal would be Ronald Reagan secretly arranging weapons for Iran so they wouldn't release American hostages until he took office.
A Scandal would be George W. Bush lying to Congress and the American people that Iraq was connected to 9/11.
What makes those three things scandals is that they amount to a fundamental betrayal, and perhaps just plain High Treason.
People should recognize the difference between a "Scamdal" and a "Scandal."
Especially Journalists.
