"Go ahead, ask me the population of America!"
Last night,
House Speaker Senate Majority Leader backbencher freshman Sen. Ted Cruz was on Sean Hannity's radio show. The results were, as you'd expect, kind of hilarious.
Hannity: Senator, I applaud your efforts, I’m with you in this. To me this is a tipping point for the country. Every Republican ran on this. Why they are opposing you, I don’t know.
Yup. Every Republican ran on this. Mitt Romney did, and
he lost. Senate Republicans did, and
they lost two seats on a map that should've
won them five. House Republicans did, and
lost the national popular vote. Only aggressive gerrymandering kept their majority intact. Hmmm, can anyone tease out the common thread?
Cruz: I’m going to use whatever procedural means available to me to fight this fight. This is a multi-stage fight. Everything [is on the table], including filibuster.
The filibuster
is not on the table. So what are the stages of the Ted Cruz's Mother of All Plans?
The first stage was unifying the American people. We’ve got over 1.6 million people who have signed the national petition at DontFundIt.com.
The population of America is 1.6 million?
The second step was the House vote on Friday defunding Obamacare.
Check!
The third step is this week unifying Senate Republicans, getting all 46 Senate Republicans to stand together.
He'll only miss that goal by what, 2/3rds? At least he'll have his puppy dog Mike Lee with him.
And the next step is getting red state Democrats to come together to listen to the American people and stop the train wreck that is Obamacare.
A trainwreck? For Republicans increasingly out of touch with public opinion?
Absolutely. For the American people?
Not so much.
