Another video has been released with veterans talking about Donald Trump’s disrespect for the U.S. military. Here is the tweet via Hillary Clinton. (To view: press the white arrow within the blue circle.)
Below are a few excerpts from the ad:
Donald Trump: A man came up to me and he handed me his Purple Heart and I said, uh, is that a real one or its hat a copy?
Military veteran: Mr. Trump and his comments about the Purple Heart obviously show his ignorance to what the Purple Heart is and what it represents.
Donald Trump: I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier.
Military veteran: Not everybody that get Purple Hearts get to come home with an injury. Some of them are awarded posthumously. And those Purple Hearts sit with their families and their loved ones. And they look upon it every day and remember the sacrifice. True, real sacrifice—that’s what the Purple Heart stands for. And Donald Trump can’t even conceive of that sacrifice.
When asked how Trump would compare his sacrifices to the sacrifices of two parents who lost their son in war, Trump says:
Donald Trump: I think I’ve made a lot of sacrifices. I’ve built great structures. I’ve had tremendous success.
THIS. The above reply pretty much sums up Donald Trump as many of us have come to know him. Several more Purple Heart recipients share their thoughts in the clip with the same disdain for the Republican nominee.
In August this 33-second video was release. Iraq War veteran Will Fischer clocks Trump with a message of his own.
And then there is U.S. Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth’s statement:
Tammy Duckworth: .@realdonaldtrump, this is how one usually looks when you are awarded the Purple Heart. Nothing easy about it.
I earned a Purple Heart in combat and I know many others who have as well. It's not something anyone 'wanted to get.' We earned them because our country asked us to.
It's no surprise Donald Trump accepted a Purple Heart the 'easier' way today because that's the story of his life. He never sacrifices. He always has things handed to him.
Join me in calling on Trump to apologize for his disrespectful comment.
We can’t possible thank our military veterans enough. But we can make sure Trump doesn’t even come close to winning the election, showing all who have served/fought to protect our freedoms, as well as people around the world—that America is much #BetterThanTrump — and by holding the Republican Party responsible for nominating this monster of a man to represent their party and then come one step away from the White House.
