As many may know-a few months ago while attending nationally televised festivities, Scott made newsworthy comments that further strained his public credibility: When he told the President-Elect Trump-He'd been in contact with gang leaders in Chicago. On national TV he (Scott) then told that President Trump “I’m going to commit that if they lower the body count, we come and do some social programs.”
Trump responded: “If they're not going to solve the problems, what you're doing is the right thing, then we're going to solve the problem for them. Because we're going to have to do something about Chicago. 'Cause what's happening in Chicago should not be happening in this country.
Well, those in opposition of his (Scott’s Chicago) agenda say, the first issue is that Scott is not meeting with "gang leaders" just a few local activist who want to leverage opportunity on community and economic levels. For Scott to insist that he was meeting with leaders is an insult to those on the ground who continuously work in the streets to make change happen. Scott later claimed he “misspoke,” to the President and blamed the error on a lack of sleep.
Many question-how can Scott or anyone like him try to organize Chicago, when last year 2016 was one of Cleveland, Ohio (his hometown) most deadly years for Violence?
According to a local survey-The deadliest year in Cleveland's recent history had come to a close but not before at least 136 people saw their lives cut down by violence. Where had you been?
The number of people killed bested 2015's number by more than 13 percent, according to cleveland.com's unofficial tally. City and county officials will release their numbers in the coming days after making final rulings on suspicious deaths.
Cleveland's uptick in homicides was particularly significant but continued an upward trend that began in 2014 as it intensified the following year.
The city contributed the lion's share of homicides in Cuyahoga County, which recorded at least 168 homicides in 2016, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office. The latest statistics released by the medical examiner's office only included deaths ruled on by Dec. 13 so the number will grow when final numbers are released.

Gun violence and the heroin epidemic dominated headlines in 2016 as the number of lives claimed by each jumped significantly. More than 500 people died in Cuyahoga County from opioid overdoses. We would believe Scott would do well to focus on this area.
Cleveland Heights pastor with ties to President Trump being sued over back rent?
In a local story first ran by Cleveland News tells the current story of Scotts current eviction battle-When contacted by News 5 two weeks ago, Scott's former landlord Munna Argarwal said he wants Scott and his wife to pay $563,000 in unpaid rent and fees, or more than $1.7 million to buy the home outright. Argarwal said he entered into an unusual rent-to-own agreement with Darrell and Belinda Scott in 2010, out of desperation over the slow economy. But Argarwal said the couple, who lived in the home for six years, fell behind on their weekly payment plan.
Scott turned down multiple requests for an on-camera interview, but in a text message called the lawsuit, “fake."
“Well, we’ll see. We’ll see-My attorney feels like this is 110% guaranteed,” Argarwal said. "If he’s calling it a fake deal or a fake lawsuit, he’s definitely a con artist.”
Pretrial in Judge Janet Burnside’s courtroom is scheduled for May.
In closing many would hope that Scott would consider taking care of his personal problems and working on community violence from a Cleveland standpoint before he tries to work in Chicago or anywhere else.
