Not sure if anyone is actually interested but today there’s a few things going on in the House. There’s the funding bills, of course, and whether the ouster of Moses will be put up for bids and voted on today or after their latest vacation.
“Peace Through Strength Bill” — sounds sort of Nazi-ish/Orwellian to me, but I’m a bit of a cynic.
Here’s what the WaPo Liveblog has so far — hopefully they aren’t as behind as the crew that did the Jury Selection in the psychoperv’s trial.
As the House begins to debate the foreign aid bills pushed by Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), several Republicans who support ousting him are explaining why Saturday morning.
That would be Massie, Greene leading the way.
Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Tex.), the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said on the floor that the United States is at a historical “inflection point,” pointing to Russia’s war on Ukraine, China’s aggression in the Pacific and Iran’s recent attack on Israel.
Other GQPers same stuff pretending they haven’t been involved in a major clusterfuck for months.
In a voice of dissent against the bill, Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Tex.) said he chose not to “participate in the carnage” of continuing to fund Israel’s defense.
“All of us have seen the tragedy of Gaza. We have seen how Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government has used American weapons to kill indiscriminately to force famine over 25,000 women and children dead, tens of thousands of them of missiles and bombs levied on innocent civilians. We cannot escape what we see before us every day,” he said, adding that “when we see it, we have to decide what we’re going to do about it.”
The scheduled order of votes Saturday afternoon is significant. It’s notable that the funding for Ukraine will be voted on before the Israel bill. That is the order that Democrats wanted because there was worry among Democrats that if Israel was voted on before Ukraine, Republicans would have no incentive to support Ukraine funding and jeopardize the measure’s passage.
Hence why the GQPer nutter caucus be mad.
House Republicans rallied behind Taiwan on Saturday, highlighting the cozy relationship between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Schizo since they don’t think the same about Ukraine.
The House has moved on to debating H.R. 8035, the Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act — a $60 billion aid package for Ukraine.
I don’t do other social media, CNN doesn’t seem to be liveblogging it, maybe C-Span but I’m not great with multi-tasking. Anyone who has other sources like Xitter, feel free to add. Thanks.
