For the final two years of his contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, football star Travis Kelce will receive $34.25 million. This renegotiated salary represents a raise of $4 million over his contract’s current provision of $30.25 million over the same period, and makes him the highest paid tight end in the National Football League.
The team is apparently trying to lock Kelce into a winning football combination that has had remarkable success over the past few years.
Kelce, 34, is a nine-time Pro Bowler who has been by quarterback Patrick Mahomes' side for all four of the Chiefs' recent Super Bowl appearances, all of which have come in the last five years and have resulted in three trophies.
While his new salary is remarkable and well-deserved by NFL standards, it places him in a very distant second place in his own household. The Washington Post estimates that Taylor Swift will see more than $4 billion in personal earnings from her current Eras concert tour.
Swift’s earnings would be the most from a single tour for any musical act to date — and more than the yearly economic output of 42 countries
Congratulations to Travis and Taylor.
