Scottie Scheffler was arrested and charged with felony assault on a police officer and reckless driving in Kentucky. Louisville Metro police department took him into custody. He is already released and is playing golf.
Scottie Scheffler reportedly is the world’s top golfer and was on his way to a tournament. When Mr. Scheffler’s progress was impeded by police squad cars with lights flashing and uniformed officers standing around (s/), he did what any reasonable person (s/) with an important place to be would do. Mr. Scheffield used the median to attempt to drive around the personnel inconveniencing him.

Move Over Laws are passed in many states to protect law enforcement personnel and other first responders. First responders should not have to fear for their lives due to performing their jobs causing inconvenience to impatient vehicle operators.

The police were on the scene after a deadly crash that did not involve Mr. Scheffler.
Scheffler was released on personal recognizance by Judge Sarah Nicholson before 9 a.m.
The citation said Scheffler “refused to comply” and drove off, dragging the detective to the ground. The detective was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Thankfully, despite Scheffler’s alleged reckless behaviour, police were able to apprehend the perp without harming him, even after one officer sustained injuries. This is a good thing. If only this privilige could be extended to more people.
