I was just in Washington DC for the past week, and Kerry stickers outnumbered Bush stickers 10 to 1. While this news is nothing special, especially when you consider the fact that Gore got 86% of the vote. But when you look at the facts a little closer, you will see that DC, border states, Maryland and Virginia are also Kerry states. Now Maryland is an obvious Kerry state but Virginia is another story. For years, Virginia has been a republican stronghold but over the last 3 years it has shifted drastically towards the left. This is probably due to the fact that the Nortern Virginia suburbs are booming, unlike most of the state, and are filling up with African-American voters who once lived in DC. This becomes apparent in the newest Rassmussen poll. Bush 45% Kerry 43%. If we keep on fighting, and don't bail out on the state, the way Al Gore did, I am convinced that Kerry can turn Virginia blue for the first time in 25 years.
