Michael Moore's powerful article is a must read:
http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=17446
He includes letters from brave soldiers who oppose the war and describe the opinion of many soldiers who question the President's motives (and do this in print with their name attached).
Moore also says that it is the anti-war folks who have supported the troops all along, not the proponents of the war. And, he asks people to contribute to the needs of the troops during this holiday season. He provides some well-researched links on how to do this. He also urges people to contribute to the needs of Iraqi children and provides some well-researched links.
On an interesting political note, he asks people to "back only anti-war candidates for Congress and President (Kucinich, Dean, Clark, Sharpton)." I find this interesting given his letter urging people to support Clark came out right before Clark announced and was a huge factor (I think) in getting Progressives to take a look at Clark. That he's now saying any of these four is great is a big change, in my opinion. And, clearly, he knows that Dean is the front-runner. So, it would suggest that he will be glad to endorse Dean when the time comes.
Here's another thought-provoking and pretty cool sentence:
"We owe it to these kids, the troops we support, to get them the hell outta there and back home so they can help organize the drive to remove the war profiteers from office next November."
I imagine he's projecting that some of the troops who come home will be significant political leaders as John Kerry and Ron Kovic were when they returned home from Vietnam. Moore is urging people to work hard to get the troops back soon, in part, so that they can impact the November election.
