Ya gotta have a back-up plan. I'm sure that Joe Leiberman fully expects that he will win the Primary against Ned Lamont. I am absolutely certain that he thinks that he
deserves to win.
But pity the poor staffer of Joe's who is tasked with writing that back-up speech. The one conceding the election to Ned Lamont. Talk about your thankless tasks. He or she undoubtably will want to do it right, taking pride in the speech itself, even if not what it has to say. Joe may not think to ask that it be written, but still, you know someone on his staff is seeing to it.
Will it be a gracious exit from the race altogether, full of the standard platitudes thanking all the hard working volunteers, the people of Connecticut, his fellow members of the Incumbent Club, George W. Bush?
Or will it be a firey declaration of his independence from the Democratic Party, brandishing his credentials like a bloody club with which to beat down the insurgent Ned Lamont?
We're still far enough out from election night that it is possible that the speech hasn't yet been written. It is even possible that the tone of the speech hasn't yet been decided.
So, just to show that there's no hard feelings, that's we're willing to let bygones be bygones, let's all suggest a few lines of text or perhaps a rhetorical trick or two. C'mon, dKos Hive-mind: let's help out that poor staffer. Offer up your best turn of phrase for Joe's concession speech.
