My latest demographic poll was on income. It can be found
here . Here are notes on what I found interesting about the results.
First thing was that "turnout" was low. In about 24 hours fewer than 100 responses were recorded, quite a bit under the previous polls for gender, race, and religion. This may be because the diary got knocked off the board early, but I wonder if the taboo about talking about your income is so great that people didn't even want to answer an anonymous poll that gave ranges only...
Second, the bumps. There is a slight bump in the 25K to 35K group, which was actually more pronounced earlier. This would be the "young adult first jobs" group, I'm guessing, since I know that Kossaks skew pretty young. The biggest bump is in the $60-$85K group (also a good guess for where the median is), which is certainly above the national average, but sounds about right for people who are predominantly from the coasts and/or cities. Then there is that 100K-150K bump. Obviously it's a bit artificial, since the spread is larger than in most of the other categories. On the other hand, I made it larger because I didn't expect so many people to answer in this category--sooo...that's where all that political money is coming from...
If you all like this series of diaries, I have a few more questions I think I could ask--or you can think of some to ask yourselves too...
