Perhaps John Kerry "likes being catered to." Jodi Wilgoren in the NYT doesn't provide a quote from the Senator, she just presents it as fact. But as someone who has gotten a turkey sandwich or two for a candidate on the campaign trail, candidates NEED to be catered to. A half dozen cities a day, changing climates, eating on the run. No one does it alone. And who is going to get the dry cleaning but a factotum "half [the candidate's] age"? Wilgoren seems to think it strange that John Kerry has a young assistant, whose routine "hardly changes" when Teresa is around (I KNOW, Jodi! Like, isn't making sandwiches totally a WIFE'S job?!)
Look, Teresa has her own speeches to make; I mean, Ms. Heinz Kerry's either disengaged, or a micromanaging loose cannon -- which is it, SCLM?
"John Kerry wanted to go snowboatrding with [Marvin Nicholson.]" Ooooh. And Pres. Bush wants to see the 9/11 Commission with Dick Cheney. And in that scenario, which one's the valet?
If Ms. Wilgoren is still weirded out by her experiences on the Kerry campaign, she should tune into a show taking a matter-of-fact view of presidential candidates and their scut-work performing assistants -- "Staffers," on the DiscoveryTIMES channel.
