So, we hear that John Kerry will be making his VP pick fairly soon--perhaps even next month. And the speculation here (where it was going on even back when everyone thought Dean had the nomination locked up) has been going on for months, now joined by speculation in the press at large.
My reaction after each heartstoppingly bad choice (Bayh? Breaux? Gephardt? McCain?!?!) has been to come running back to Edwards as if he were an old teddy bear. There isn't a magic bullet VP candidate, just as there wasn't a magic bullet presidential candidate (although if we took all the good parts of KerryDeanClarkEdwards, we'd have an unbeatable contender), but this process has to end sometime.
True, Edwards has some downside. He's not HoHo, and he might get in the way of a HoHo run in 2012, being the main ones (the war vote is no longer an issue--or so they tell us), but we could do so much worse. So, with that thunderingly strong level of approval, I endorse John Edwards as VP candidate.
