His senate seat, that is? We've already mulled over this question, with many of us saying that there are a number of good reasons that Kerry should resign, and better reasons that as long as Gov. Romney is in charge, he should resign before it's too late and MA has a Republican senator in 2005 (and that could easily jeopardize our position in the senate as well). I believe some said that deadline was in June.
This latest flap over the unemployment benefits vote just underscores the problem. As Jeff Seeman knows, it's hard to campaign and hold on to your day job--both suffer. Plus, politically tricky votes will come up--in fact, you can count on the Republicans putting a few in just to make Kerry squirm or look like a flip-flopper.
Then there's the Kerry as spineless ass aspect. How is he going to show he's serious about the race? If he does it now, he's serious. If he waits too long, he looks desperate--or like a flip flopper (sort of how Dean waited too long to bring his wife out on the campaign trail--then when he did, it looked like he was caving. If he'd brought her out before the media caught up to them it would be a non story)
This is for all the marbles. We need to know that you're willing to give it 100%, John Kerry.
