Three Guys:
I found this posted by someone else in one of the convention threads, but it's important enough to be in a diary. Total convention viewership is up from 2000:
Conventional wisdom says Americans aren't interested in political conventions. Viewership was down from about 5.9 million to 4.5 million each on the major networks since 2000.
But those numbers are misleading. More people are turning to cable TV. In fact, viewership on Fox News Channel and MSNBC more than doubled. On CNN it was up 38 percent.
Total viewership on the major networks, Fox, MSNBC and CNN, according to Neilsen, is up over four years ago, suggesting interest in the conventions is up
So--if the interest is there--why are the networks trying to obscure as much of the Democratic National Convention as possible?
Get your tinfoil
hat on.
Are they going to bury the RNC like this? I doubt it.
