SERMON: UNFIT FOR COMMAND

As seen on the marquee of First Baptist Church in Edmond, OK.

I have no other info regarding this, but the thought of some baptist preacher giving credence to this pack of lies, to a congregation that must number in the thousands, is disturbing.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

The church is the trench in which shrub will fight his election battle.  He can't win anywhere else...he's a mess.  Just goes to show you how intelligent some of the zealots really are.
  •  Un-Baptist. (none)
If that's what is really on the sign, then it is extremely un-Baptist.  I was raised Southern Baptist and am offended anytime Baptist leaders get involved in partisan politics within their capacity as ministers.  Who were some of Thomas Jefferson's staunchest supporters in his campaign to ensure the separation of church and state? Baptists.  Time to return to roots.

I also think this might be the church where my aunt is a secretary and she and my uncle are members; they live in Edmond.

Before we get too excited, though, communications committees love throwing "teasers" like this on signs, and the sermon may be more along the lines of sinful humanity being "unfit for command" of our own lives, as evidenced by how badly we screw up, and our need for God's leadership.  Or something.  If that's the case, it was really stupid, as it makes the congregation look partisan.

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely in my name.

I thought about that aspect....but even if that is the case, that speaks to the potential impact of this book.
