First half talks about Holden "taking one for the team" in successfully fighting to get the MO Hate Amendment on the August primary ballot, as opposed to the November general ballot. Presumably, that would have increased rural/conservative turnout and possibly could have tipped MO towards Bush. Since the primary saw very high turnout (1.5M in a state with roughly 5.7M) and the amendment passed 70-30, maybe that really will help Kerry in November.
The second half of the article is about how McCaskill has replaced the head of the MO Dem party chair, selecting Ron Wilson (the guy who became Gov when Carnahan died in the plane crash). The upshot is that Wilson (like McCaskill) did well in rural MO (which is like national Dems doing well in the South). Food for thought.
