There are lies, damn lies and statistics. And
this last poll from survey USA got me more worked up than ive been in a while. Ladies and gentleman, this is ridiculous. Bush and Kerry tied in Maryland. MD, which traditionally votes 5-15 percentage points more Democratic than the national average. That any polling firm could present this tells us the sad state of our politics. But not only do they release the poll, they emblazon it with the
Democratic State of Maryland in Play!
Lets look at the internals... (im not very good at this yet but im trying). 21 % of Black Marylanders voting for Bush. Not a chance in a million hells. Or how about how 48% of Marylanders are conservative. Which is why we elect Senators like Mikulski and Sarbanes (the second most liberal senator). This makes
so much sense. Incidentally a little more math shows that half of those polled must be military or veterans. MD has more veterans than most... but thats ridiculous. The beauty is these numbers are highlighted (though unintentionally) The poll shows 87% of Bush Voters are conservative and 14% of Kerry voters are conservative, when added up make 48% of marylanders that are conservative. This is all so very very sad. But remember results like these when other more believable polls come our way.
