I thought of (what I think is) a powerful response for Kerry to use when Bush uses 9/11 as an excuse to shrug off his failings.
(I know they can't ask eachother questions, but they can address eachother directly, can't they?)
Mr. President, you are right in stating that "9/11 changed everything" (insert actual Bush quote). 9/11 forever changed our role in the world, and it has brought us greater challenges than we ever could have imagined. And in times of great change and uncertainty like these, what we need most is true leadership.
FLIPPING your stance from getting Osama Bin Laden dead or alive, to "not being very concerned about him" simply because you haven't found him yet, is NOT true leadership.
True leadership would have been to focus our resources and manpower on relentlessly hunting down Bin Laden and rooting out Al Quaeda in every country they were ACTUALLY IN.
And that is exactly what I'm going to do if I'm elected President.
And/Or
FLIPPING your stance that your tax cuts for the wealthy would send our economy booming, to being satisfied that we're back down to only one and a half million lost jobs, simply because your tax cuts did not work, IS NOT true leadership.
True leadership would have been being flexible enough to put aside your tax cuts after 9/11 when it was clear we needed those resources to secure our country.
And that is the kind of leadership the American people can expect from me.
OK, now make the whole thing less wordy and cut it down to 30 seconds.
This combines a few good attacks:
-Bush is the real flip-flopper
-Bush is not really a strong leader, Kerry is
-And being flexible is a GOOD thing
This is only my second diary ever, so please be kind and let me know what's good/bad about my idea.
