Two towers one gets hit by a jet, then the other. The second tower gets a more indirect hit. Most of any fuel is jettisoned from the building. After the fires burn out. The tower that gets hit second and recieves the indirect hit, falls first.
Never has any high rise structure ever collapsed from fire. Hillary Clinton calls for an investigation to make us all safer, doesn't happen.
Kerosene, or jet fuel, can not get hot enough to come close to melting steel:
Summarizing:
We have assumed that the entire 3,500 gallons of jet fuel was confined to just one floor of the World Trade Center, that the jet fuel burnt with perfect efficency, that no hot gases left this floor, that no heat escaped this floor by conduction and that the steel and concrete had an unlimited amount of time to absorb all the heat.
Then it is impossible that the jet fuel, by itself, raised the temperature of this floor more than 257° C (495° F).
Now this temperature is nowhere near high enough to even begin explaining the World Trade Center Tower collapse.
It is not even close to the first critical temperature of 600° C (1,100° F) where steel loses about half its strength and it is nowhere near the quotes of 1500° C that we constantly read about in our lying media.
"In the mid-1990s British Steel and the Building Research Establishment performed a series of six experiments at Cardington to investigate the behavior of steel frame buildings. These experiments were conducted in a simulated, eight-story building. Secondary steel beams were not protected. Despite the temperature of the steel beams reaching 800-900° C (1,500-1,700° F) in three of the tests (well above the traditionally assumed critical temperature of 600° C (1,100° F), no collapse was observed in any of the six experiments."
Quote from the FEMA report (Appendix A).
Recalling that the North Tower suffered no major structural damage from the intense office fire of February 23, 1975, we can conclude that the ensuing office fires of September 11, 2001, also did little extra damage to the towers.
Conclusion:
The jet fuel fires played almost no role in the collapse of the World Trade Center.
So, once again, you have been lied to by the media, are you surprised?

In the SUB BASEMENT of the towers, meaning well below the 80th floor:
The two decided to ascend the stairs to the C level, to a small machine shop where Vito Deleo and David Williams were supposed to be working. When the two arrived at the C level, they found the machine shop gone.
"There was nothing there but rubble, "Mike said. "We're talking about a 50 ton hydraulic press ? gone!" The two began yelling for their co-workers, but there was no answer. They saw a perfect line of smoke streaming through the air. "You could stand here," he said, "and two inches over you couldn't breathe. We couldn't see through the smoke so we started screaming." But there was still no answer.
Sergei Siletzky was a helper at WTC. At the time of the attack, he was attending class at Local 94.
The two made their way to the parking garage, but found that it, too, was gone. "There were no walls, there was rubble on the floor, and you can't see anything" he said.
They decided to ascend two more levels to the building's lobby. As they ascended to the B Level, one floor above, they were astonished to see a steel and concrete fire door that weighed about 300 pounds, wrinkled up "like a piece of aluminum foil" and lying on the floor. "They got us again," Mike told his co-worker, referring to the terrorist attack at the center in 1993. Having been through that bombing, Mike recalled seeing similar things happen to the building's structure. He was convinced a bomb had gone off in the building.

Finally and sadly a tape of the firefighters has emerged. They are on the 78th floor and call for hoses to put out spot fires. If the kerosene and office furniture fire reached temperatures hot enough to heat steel and destroy a 50 ton hydraulic press in the Sub Basement of the towers, how is it possible for the firefighters to be on the 78th floor? The heat would vaporize them.
The tape is likely to be remembered as far more than a record of what went wrong. It contains the only permanently preserved voices of firefighters from the tower stairwells, including transmissions from the fire chief who climbed highest into the building. As the firefighters raced up the stairs of the south tower, and right until the final seconds, they can be heard calmly organizing help for injured civilians as high as the 78th floor.
"All right, Tommy," a firefighter from Ladder 15 is heard saying minutes before the collapse, "it's imperative that you try to get down to the lobby command post and get some people up to 40. We got injured people up here on 70. If you make it to the lobby command post, see if they can somehow get elevators past the 40th floor. We got injured people all the way up here."

Whew! good thing we found Atta's passport in the rubble. Despite all that steel melting super heated fireball action that disintegrated a 50 ton hydraulic press and for the first time in history and against all laws of the physical universe felled two high rise structures, Atta's passport floats down safely.
There is and are some very specious facts on the Internet, planes with pods underneath them etc. Good idea to remain skeptical; However, the facts I have presented here are basic, verifiable, eyewitness accounts and hard science.
Before I start my busy day, I'd also like to point out the fallacy of a statement one hears a great deal, "that extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof." This is false. The same rules for evidence apply.
Shocking as it seems to those uninitiated in the way government works to bring us brilliant policy like Operation Northwoods, Operation Gladio and other examples of urban terror endorsed and or carried out with your tax dollar ... 9-11 was a false flag op.
You either believe that kerosene can melt steel and hence 18 muslims suspended the laws of the physical universe for a day, or, you are of a more rational mind.
Pathological disbelief just won't cut it anymore.
Update [2004-8-2 12:47:23 by The Secret Team]: Thanks for all the well reasoned debate. Here is a pdf that seems fairly complete on this topic:

Funny how not one of the angry, insulting, know it alls can produce one shred of evidence. Notice the tactic seems to be a diatribe about how stupid I am as an excuse to not want to take the time to debunk these obvious fallacies.
Funny I never encounter this caustic, accusatory attitude unless I am right. And I am. Wish it were not so, but, TowerGate is here to stay, just as long as the sky is blue, the day is long, and kerosene retains its known physical properties. I don't see a lot of welders showing up to work with a can of white gas and a sack of old newspapers.
Update [2004-8-2 14:58:52 by The Secret Team]: Although musings85 states that he has left evidence, this evidence is for flash temps of course this does not apply. Notice also his anger, a sign of fear, a step away from violence over being wrong about the melting points of steel and the heat that can be generated by a kerosene fire. Now wind shear and pancaking would make a little sense, but, look at the evidence. Both Towers fall in 10.4 seconds, a free fall unimpeded by hitting lower floors. Wind shear would have caused a much different looking collapse. More red herrings and psuedo science from the hurlers of insults and the believers in complete fantasy. Sad that I even need to respond to such drivel from those with obvious ulterior motives as evidenced by their arrogant and violent words, but, those are the times we live in. Firefighters on the 78th floor report spot fires and survivors of a fire that raged for the length of time and temperature to melt steel? To blow a 50 ton hydraulic press in the sub basement to bits? This is interesting jet fuel, to be sure. Son of Flubber material!
The Fire Engineers want answers:
A respected professional magazine read by fire fighters and engineers is calling the investigation into the collapse of the World Trade Towers a farce and a sham.
By Christopher Bollyn
Fire Engineering magazine, the 125-year old journal of record among America's fire engineers and firefighters, recently blasted the investigation being conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of the collapsed World Trade Center as a "a half-baked farce.
Fire Engineering frequently publishes technical studies of major fires and is read in more that 50,00 fire departments and schools of fire engineering across the nation.
Fire Engineering's Editor, William Manning, issued a "call to action" to America's firefighters and fire engineers in the January issue asking them to contact their representatives in Congress and officials in Washington to demand a blue ribbon panel to thoroughly investigate the collapse of the World Trade Center structures.
Manning challenged the theory that the towers collapsed as a result of the crashed airliners and the subsequent fuel fires, saying, "Respected members of the fire protection engineering community are beginning to raise red flags, and a resonating theory has emerged: The structural damage from the planes and the explosive ignition of jet fuel in themselves were not enough to bring down the towers."
No evidence has been produced to support the theory that the burning jet fuel and secondary fires "attacking the questionably fireproofed lightweight trusses and load-bearing columns directly caused the collapses," Manning wrote, adding that the collapses occurred "in an alarmingly short time."
