One of the best "gotcha" moments of the debate occurred when Kerry caught Bush conflating between Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein. Bush said that "we were attacked" and so we had to respond by invading Iraq. Kerry not only pointed out that it was not Hussein that attacked us, but did it in a dramatic way that no one could miss.

However, did anyone else here notice that afterwards Bush showed his Iraq obsession two more times? In a discussion of Al Qaeda, Bush began to speak about going to "Ira..." then stopped himself knowing that he wanted something else. So he switched to a person and actually said "Saddam Hussein" before he corrected himself and finally got it right with "Bin Laden." I think this was after Kerry's gotcha moment, and he still couldn't keep them straight!

Any other Bush bloopers that people noticed?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

It's at the end of your first paragraph.  Quick, go back and fix it! ;)

Okay, maybe Bush is killing innocent people around the world but at least the economy sucks.

    When he said that when he ran for president before he never dreamed he'd have to "commit" troops to war;

And when he said his daughters needed to be leashed. Hmm. And where to put those electrodes??

    •  jokey bit about daughters (none)
When Bush and Kerry were joking about family, what did Kerry say that he'd learned not to do? It seemed it might have been about their daughters, but I didn't catch it.

      •  It was the "leash" comment. (none)
After Bush said he'd tried to put his daughters "on a leash", Kerry said (approximately) "I've learned not to try to do that".

  •  Not a blooper, as such. . . (none)
. . .but I'd like to share the moment of levity we had at my house.

During some long-winded thing on terrorism, Bush said something like "we're dealing with a group of folks. . . with hate in their hearts. . . who will strike anywhere in the world. . ."

And my husband asked,"Who's he talking about? His Cabinet?"
