Is there an opening to counter one of Bush's repeated debate slogans and at the same time defend against the meme that it is somehow unpatriotic to question a war president? Something like:
It is not a mixed message to question the tactics of this administration and call for change. It is the pure message of democracy: that the best way for a people to govern themselves is through free speech and open discussion of the issues. The people and emerging government of Iraq need to be shown that the democracy we are fighting for is not the confident and steadfast repetition of noble sounding phrases, but rather the ongoing process of engaged dissent that creates a government of, by, and for the people.
Seems like LTE material to me. Maybe a Founding Father quote as a closer. Thoughts?
