In 1984, Reagan performed horribly in the first debate. For some Mondale supporters, it created some hope in an otherwise mostly hopeless campaign. Then, first line of the second debate, Reagan sealed the deal with one of the best lines in politics ever.
Bush won't do that. He just doesn't have it in him. However, he could very well perform solidly. If he comes out as he did in his Convention speech--likeable, the compassionate conservative, straightforward candidate, he'll be strong. Luckily, it looks as though instead he'll try to go on the attack. This, in my opinion, is a losing strategy...you don't beat Kerry by attacking him; our guy is un-fucking-flappable.
With that I pose a question to the community: How will Bush perform tomorrow night?
