It's turning out like I predicted (see
here and
here). September's employment situation numbers (+96,000) are
dismal. Anything less than 150,000 doesn't even keep up with population growth -- much less a "recovering" economy.
However, beware that they may try to spin on this number. The "benchmark revisions" were announced as an upward revision of 236,000 (about the same as the President's CEA, Greg Mankiw predicted). That means that they will claim that 236,000 more people gained employment between March 2003 and March 2004 than was previously reported.
DON'T LET THEM SPIN OUT OF THIS BAD ECONOMIC NEWS! Remember that the benchmark revisions are really about last year. We care about what's happening to the economy NOW! Keep the media's eyes on the prize.
