Do you think Jonathan Chait ("Argument for Bush Hating") is an "unwitting neocon pawn" as well?
I could take a different tack and say that our critiques strike home, because the neocons can't write us off as "peace dupes". Do you really think when they read my WaPo thing, Republicans were happy about exposure for a war supporter who laughed and responded "No, no way, never" to the question of whether I voted for Bush? Or mentioned that I had a shop that sold things like bumper stickers that read "Bush-Cheney: America's Second Choice"?
I submit that this kind of exposure does a lot of good for the Democrats' chances among swing voters who see coverage of Saddam's atrocities and find it hard to relate with the "hell no, we shouldn't have gone" crowd. They can look at someone like me (or Chait) and see "hmmm...if I'm not against the war, I can still vote Democratic".
Even if you totally agree with Chait and me, you should welcome the broadening of the Democratic tent, or at least not accuse us (me, at least--not sure why Chait gets off scot free) of being "neocon dupes" that unwittingly do the GOP's work for them.
