And no I am not lost. I am a Democrat, but until Bush took office I was really on the fence. I truly believe that the government should help people that need it and I know it costs money to do that.I don't think we should borrow for this type of spending, but rather find the money in other places by making government smaller and more efficient.
But I also know there are a lot of "Club for Growth" type conservatives out there that don't give a damn about Bush social policies...
I haven't seen much about this in the news yet but I couldn't help but think that as Bush mocked "Pay as you go" that any fiscal conservative watching had to be disgusted. If I was a voter on the fence and fiscal responsibility was my #1 issue this would be the defining moment for me in deciding my vote.
We may not see it in the news folks, but my prediction is that this statement might cost Bush the election. Bush laughing at and mocking Paygo will not go over well with fiscal conservatives. He basicly stated that fiscal sanity will not have a place in a second term Whitehouse.
Hopefully Kerry will latch on to this as he continues to campaign to the center of America.
