I've always been against exit polls (not that I've ever gotten the chance) because of it infringing on the secrecy of ballots and because it contributes to networks too quickly declaring winners. But I wonder if this year exit polls are actually our friend. They may provide some protection against Republican shenanigans. Much like Florida in 2000, a pro-Democrat exit pool might cause red flags if the Democrats lose a state because of fraud. Is there any avenue for encouraging Kerry voters to respond to exit polls? Is ACT or anyone addressing this?
