Yesterday,
Patrick Murphy picked up the support of the highest elected democratic official in Bucks County, Commissioner Sandy Miller. This endorsement is seen as a disappointment for Robin Weissman, who has yet to announce her candidacy for the seat. Politicspa.com put it like
this:
"The endorsement would be a blow to Robin Wiessmann, who courted Miller and was attempting to secure an uncontested primary election."
In Miller's endorsement of Murphy, she explains that she has worked with the current Congressman in the past. She
says:
"I happen to like Mike Fitzpatrick...but it has become evident and obvious to me that he has just aligned himself with a wing of the Republican Party down there that is not truly representative of the voters of Bucks County."
Miller goes on to say:
"We need leaders in Congress who understand the threat of terrorism and the reality of war in Iraq. Patrick Murphy is a true American and a true Democrat - a powerful combination that our nation and community desperately need right now."
Even in this early stage, this race is heating up with major money pouring in and many candidates stepping up to the plate. It should be interesting to see how it all plays out.
