I hope I don't bore you guys, but I just read the local paper's endorsement of my friend, and I had to share it with you.
By way of background, we (along with a small and very dedicated group of parents) worked very hard about 4 years ago to keep two neighborhood schools open. The facts, common sense, and fiscal responsibility were on our side. But some incompetant administrators and 6 out of 7 school board members were not.
So we lost the battle. Since then, we've elected a majority of our own candidates (including Allen) to the board, and the above-mentioned administrators have seen fit to move on. We couldn't save our two schools. But they won't get the ones we've got left.
Now, Allen is running for the Iowa State Legislature to try and make even more of a difference for the children in our state. I felt the Quad City Times' endorsement of him today was so in keeping with the concept of real people, effecting positive change, that we see so often here at kos, that I wanted to share it with you.
Hope you like it.
