New interviews with Bush's co-workers circa 1973 on Project P.U.L.L. contradict his characterization of his 'volunteer' work for the organization. Their accounts include GHWB pulling strings to get Bush in the door and Bush being there as a result of being in legal trouble.
The WH denies all, except it admits that Bush was not paid.
Given the time period, and the fact that Bush spokespersons have already claimed that the Guard paid Bush to work at P.U.L.L., it seems possible that his service was the result of a deal related to his loss of flight status and irregular exit from the Guard, or possibly substance abuse related legal trouble (as contrasted with weapons of mass destruction program related activities). It would be good if these new facts bring Bush's Guard service (or lack thereof) back to media focus in the final week of the campaign.
I hope this isn't duplicative. I googled the domain and couldn't find any thing recent on this, so no flames, please :)
