If anyone has personal experience or opinions about any of these three, please post them.
Richard B. Teitelman ( Missouri Supreme court )
The case of alienated affection.
"In its opinion, the court wrote that alienation of affection has its roots in English common law and was adopted by many states in the 19th century. Today, it is cause for legal action in only eight states: Hawaii, Illinois, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Dakota and Utah. "
....
"Alienation of affection is grounded in the outdated idea that married people have property interests in each other and its present-day interpretation does nothing to preserve marriages, Judge Richard Teitelman wrote for the majority. "

Patricia Breckenridge
Quotes from a Women Executives of Kansas City gathering
Patricia Breckenridge was concerned, too, about those values, citing a newspaper article that morning that discussed the possible use of torture or deportation against uncooperative suspects. "I was horrified," said Breckenridge. "What makes our country grand is our values and I was shocked that after 35 days, we might be willing to abandon them."
And
Breckenridge was emphatic about the crisis in education in Kansas City. As a day-care center reading volunteer, she sees kids who can't do simple math or can't read--and they're 10 years old. "We're losing kids, and that has a great impact on Kansas City. This is a crisis--a generation or more of inner-city kids are already lost."
