If 7,500 signatures is all it takes become a "CT for Lieberman" nominee, why don't we run a candidate against Joe? I'd certainly love to see him face another primary battle.
If anyone has any names to recommend, I'd love to hear them. 50 cent comes up first on a Google search for "CT resident", but I'm sure there is somebody better. Given the massive number of registered "CT for Lieberman" voters (cough), anyone that could lure even a few voters to the party as a joke would give Lieberman a run for his money. I bet some Yale students would get behind it, at the very least.
Anyway, I'm not sure how all of the law works on this. It may be that this is more of an Onion article than a real possibility, but the idea of Joe walking directly into a statewide race with 7,500 signatures is also pretty laughable. If nothing else, even a failed attempt might at least steal his television coverage. Or he might literally explode with indignation. It all beats anything else we are likely to see on television this August.
Seriously, though, write your senator and let them know what you think about Lieberman leaving the party.
