Much attention has been paid to the nationwide efforts to demonize any candidate who has been helped by MoveOn. But there is also an effort underway to attack any candidate who was helped by
Victory Fund, a bipartisan effort to elect more GLBT politicians.
Julia Boseman, who is in a tight race for the North Carolina state senate, has been
ripped to pieces by her Thug opponent because of her secret "lesbian agenda".
The mailers that have been going around to homes are apparently 10 times worse than the ads are. While we have seen no evidence that these efforts are backfiring on a major level (Richard Burr's anti-gay campaign has helped him shoot up in the polls; and Mike Easley, who is in no danger of losing, had to
proudly support anti-gay benefits amendments in a recent debate), a major paper in Wilmington has withdrawn their
endorsement of the Republican due to his vicious smears against Boseman. Do any of you in NC know anything about this race? Do you think Boseman can win, or is that not likely in a place like North Carolina? Earlier this year I thought that NC was changing, but the past month seems to have proven me wrong.
