John Kerry is so longwinded, it makes me want to:
KISS
Keep it Short and and Simple....stupid....
so, uh, my own twisted take on elecatibilty...I mean...electriabivlity....rrrg, see the poll....
Kerry has personality problems...
Edwards has experience problems...
Here's our most "electable" tickets, given the above. (I'm not gonna hide from the "e" word...debates like this are basically conjecture and opinion...but they can be useful, if not, fun.)
Kerry + Edwards = our best choice at this point. They complement each other, and Edward's charm helps mitigate Kerry's not insignificant "do I have to watch this guy on TV for the next 4 years?" factor.
Kerry + Clark = choice #2. Veterans. Leaders with world experience for a troubled world.
Kerry + almost anyone else = problems (sorry, Gep)
Kerry needs to pull someone from the pool of nine candidates not just for unity, but to keep the maximum number of primary voters invested in this process and capitalize on the record turn outs.
Of Kerry's choices: Edwards and Clark are winners, and help Kerry with his significant personality issues. Kerry / Gep would be kind of like a Mondale / Dukakis ticket, sad to say.
Edward's problem, in a nutshell: we already have a charismatic southern President who was a little short on the experience front. I cannot see the American public "handing off" post 9/11 foreign policy and the war in Iraq to John Edwards. Maybe you can, I can't.
Imagine for a second that Edwards was the nominee. We would need an experienced VP, big time. Gen. Clark has the experience to play that role...but neither Edwards or Clark runs strong with the Democratic base.
So...and I ask this only half tongue in cheek...could Mario Cuomo be Edward's Cheney? Gravitas, trust, Democrat to the core.
Edwards / Cuomo. You read it here first.
