I was rereading the Suskind profile of Bush
permanent link in the NYT magazine from a few weeks ago and my tinfoil hat started burning. Even under the most generous assumptions of good will and genuine patriotism, W seems like the type who would have no qualms about taking precipitous actions during his lame-duck period, actions that could seriously jeopardize what is already going to be an enormously tough Kerry presidency.
If one is unwilling to make those generous assumptions, the possible scenerios become downright terrifying.
Are W and his cronies simply misguided patriots? Or do we have to worry about something even worse.
Sorry--but I couldn't sleep last night and this is therapy.
