Black Box Voting has taken the position that fraud took place in the 2004 election through electronic voting machines. We base this on hard evidence, documents obtained in public records requests, inside information, and other data indicative of manipulation of electronic voting systems. What we do not know is the specific scope of the fraud. We are working now to compile the proof, based not on soft evidence -- red flags, exit polls -- but core documents obtained by Black Box Voting in the most massive Freedom of Information action in history.
They haven't yet said which races the fraud occurred in or even which party benefited from the fraud. Presumably that information will be forthcoming, but those details don't matter all that much. Any Democratic candidate who won a race as a result of the discovery of this fraud would likely be hampered by some severe public outrage. I'd like to think that we would first condemn those responsible for the fraud were it to help one of our candidates.
What this means, though is that the issue of voter fraud with electronic voting machines is one we need to worry about and fight against. Yes, we should focus on the 2006 and 2008 elections, but our work will not pay off unless the votes are counted.
MINOR UPDATE: Randi Rhodes had a guest from Black Box Voting on earlier today (I think his name was Andy Stephenson). He said that they prefer donations to be sent in the form of checks, so that they don't have to pay credit card fees. Oddly the address he gave on the air was not the same as the one on blackboxvoting.org/donate.html, so I'm not sure which address you should donations to if you should decide to do so.
